World Mental Health Day
Can you hear the Sound?
Don’t miss a feast of live rock music with Sound? 2011 at Bridgend Recreation Centre on Friday 7 October from 7 – 10.30pm featuring headliners EXIT INTERNATIONAL and many more local bands in celebration of World Mental Health Day.
Aimed at 14 – 25 year olds, don’t miss Cardiff based headliners EXIT INTERNATIONAL, a guitar free trio who are generating an ever increasing following with their unforgettable alternative indie rock, drum, bass and psychobillly. Featuring two bassists and no lead guitar, Fudge Wilson, Adam Thomas and Scott Lee Andrews formed EXIT INTERNATIONAL from the ashes of Welsh indie / punk bands Midasuno and The Martini Henry Rifles and have received rave reviews from their appearance at the the Swn Festival 2009, played a headline show for Rock Sound magazine, and performed alongside The Bronx and The King Blues to name but a few.
The night also includes live performances from Bridgend based bands COLOURS OF ONE (a five piece alternative rock band), WHERE IS BILLY, STARS & FLIGHTS, FOUR WORDS LATER, STATION 13, KERRANG!
Organised by PROMHS (consisting of local organisations working in Bridgend) and Siaradwn Ni – Let’s Talk (five year Big Lottery project), this event aims to promote positive mental health wellbeing amongst young people through the innovative medium of rock music, breaking down the barriers to accessing support, recognition, response and recovery. Throughout the concert during band changes, there will also be short videos made by Bridgend College student Sophie Williams highlighting young people’s successes in overcoming personal issues.
Supported by Bridgend County Borough Council’s The Gathering, Bridgend College, Black River Arts and Hobos, all tickets are £3. Tickets can be purchased on the night or before the concert at BAVO, Bauhaus, Bridgend Music Station, and Hobos in Bridgend town centre; Black River Arts and band members.
